Senior Night for Waterpolo Girl's!!!!

Wednesday night we took a drive over to Central High (just like the old days) to see Katie, Sam and Lindsey play their last home game for the season and their last game as high schooler's. Lots of friends came out to support them. It's so surreal to think that we have been friends since the girls were in the 4th grade and here they are in their Senior year now!!!

Civil War Revisited

Today we went out to Kearney Park to see the Civil War Revisited. It's a re-enactment of a battle of the Civil War. They also have exhibits with period crafts and trades of the day, as well as different famous people from the day. You can walk around and talk to them. Most of them are in character for as long as they are with the public and they know their character, so you feel like you are talking to the real person.

This is Walt Whitman...poet
Harriet Tubman is in the brown and Sojourner Truth on the left. This group also sang different Negro Spirituals acapella. They were really good. Some of the songs they sang are songs I sang during my high school and college days. A lot of the spirituals have been passed down and arranged for choirs...they are some of my favorites to sing. (A little choir trivia there)
She is a modern day basket weaver...and I thought that basket weaving was just a joke for easy college classes! What she was doing was no joke, quite an art.
She was sewing on a 1909 sewing machine, but the same kind of the Civil War. It worked great and she said it has never had a part replaced! It that amazing or what? The gals were so sweet. They talked with us for quite a while. The one on the left is making a rag rug and the one on the right is making thread out of lamb's wool. I love their costumes! After seeing all these ladies, I got inspired to get out my machine and start sewing again.
Jen and Melissa showing off a hand made chairJen and her hair. I think she looks like a feather duster....like the one from Beauty and the Beast.
We went to the re-enactment because Nacoya and her friend, who is also Melissa's cousin, Heather are both in U.S. History and got extra credit for going and interviewing four people. Here they are listening to Abe Lincoln. This guy does a lot of gigs as Mr. Lincoln and knows so much history....he is really interesting to listen to.
Doesn't he look like the real Mr. Lincoln?
Heather, Jenna, Melissa, Olivia (Nacoya's other friend) and Nacoya ready to watch the battle.
Olivia and Nacoya
Dave and the ear plugs he packed for all of us. We were so glad he did...the canons are like a sonic boom, just at close range!
The battle...

Welcome little Anna

Our good friends, Carlos and Megan, had their second baby on Thursday, little Anna Katrina.

Happy Mom and Dad
She was getting ready to be weighed by the nurse....I don't think she liked getting naked!
Isn't she pretty!

Josh is home for the weekend!!!

Josh has a four day weekend for Columbus Day, so he hopped on a plane and came home for the weekend. He goes back tomorrow and finally gets to start his job training on Tuesday. We have been enjoying just having him around again, and Diesel especially enjoys having him home. Josh plays with Diesel like no one else.

Relaxing and watching the Dodgers game. They have TV's at the base where he is training but only for watching movies, not regular TV.

Having fun with Diesel

Nacoya calls them the "Kodak Kids" because of their pearly whites - thank you braces....
Here we all are tonight. Diesel got in on the action too at the last minute, so now we have the whole family in the picture.
